B.W. Leadership Academy Challenges Old Adage Regarding Leadership
Employees Won’t Follow You Just Because You’re The Boss
(BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – Oct. 10, 2016) – Some leaders believe their employees will follow them just because he or she is the boss. Dr. Bryan K. Williams, the leading expert on customer service and founder of the B.W. Leadership Academy, is addressing this specific issue at an upcoming two-day leadership event – the B.W. Leadership Academy. By the end of the Academy the attendee will be a stronger, more effective leader and will clearly understand what it takes for an employee to want to listen, learn and follow their leader.
“So often I encounter individuals who have a leadership role, but they aren’t clear on what real leadership accountability looks like,” said Williams. “My goal is to help the attendee realize their full potential.” Williams continued, “I challenge the outdated notion that employees will follow you simply because you are the boss. Employees, especially the Millennial generation, want to know why they should follow you, the leader, and it’s not because your name tag says ‘boss.’”
Williams believes that when attendees complete the two-day Academy they will return to their company highly engaged, with more confidence and with the tools and knowledge needed to motivate their teams. His goal is for all attendees of the B.W. Leadership Academy, regardless of level, to be the leader they are meant to be.
The B.W. Leadership Academy is not a typical conference because it’s not just about leadership … it’s about the individual leader. The attendee is fully engaged every step of the way, which begins when an executive coach is assigned immediately after registration to work with the participant both pre- and post-Academy. Each participant will also take the Gallup StrengthsFinder online assessment and complete a customized leadership action plan. According to Williams, the target attendees are strong mid-managers and those who are close to becoming senior leaders.
