The BW Leadership Academy is a unique opportunity for strong mid-managers and those who are close to becoming senior leaders to become completely engaged in a two-day event that strictly focuses on making the attendee the leader they are meant to be. This is not about leadership as a role – it’s about the individual leader. I've noticed a major trend in that there are significantly fewer strong leaders in companies who know how to model, recognize, give feedback, coach, inspire, etc. I'm finding that fewer leaders are being ill equipped to be effective leaders. By focusing on helping the attendee become the leader they are meant to be at the BW Leadership Academy, we will also begin to prepare a future generation of strong leaders.
The Academy is not your typical conference where there is a keynote, breakout sessions, reception, repeat. In fact, it’s not a conference … it’s a leadership academy that focuses on making you the leader you are meant to be. The Academy is different from the minute you register. After registration you will be assigned an executive coach who will help prepare you for the conference, and will also work with you once a month for three months post conference on your action plan items. The Academy is about full engagement in every aspect of the agenda.
The BW Leadership Academy’s goal is to help leaders become the leader they are meant to be and to grow the future generation of leaders. Strong mid-managers and those who are close to becoming senior leaders are the individuals who are closest to the customer experience. The people in these roles, typically direct leaders, have the most influence on the morale, productivity and engagement of the line staff. While anyone can (and has) benefited from my leadership courses, I believe these individuals will benefit greatly from the Academy experience.
If I have a senior manager who we are developing into a leadership role, will the BW Leadership Academy be a good fit?
In my opinion, yes. When I work with organizations on change, whether it’s with culture, service or leadership, it is incredibly beneficial to have the right individuals and roles aligned with the overall purpose. Having everyone work toward the same goal, with the same understanding, is critical to success.
As a SVP of Talent I’m interested in sending a high potential leader because of the coaching opportunity. What can you tell me about the coaches and their resumes/experience? And is there an opportunity to extend the coaching partnership past the three months post Academy?
All coaches are Certified Gallup StrengthsFinder Coaches with extensive leadership and executive coaching experience across various industries. While the registration fee will include three coaching calls (one pre-Academy, and two post-Academy), the attendee can definitely extend the partnership past three months with their individual coach.
As you prepare to celebrate your 10th anniversary, tell me how these past ten years have helped to create your vision for the Academy?
Most times when a company calls on me to assist the question is, "How can WE improve the culture?" or "What do OUR leaders need to do drive service excellence?" With all the talk on what leaders need to do and the organization needs to do, the malnourished component is the individual leader and what he/she specifically needs to do every day. What am I going to do? What behaviors will I be accountable for?
